Ma'in district: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, in cooperation with the Education Sector in Ma'in District of the Capital Secretariat, launched on Monday a community tree-planting initiative at a number of schools and service facilities in the district, as part of activities commemorating the Prophet's Birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative included planting numerous fruit and ornamental tree seedlings in the courtyards and surrounding areas of Muadh bin Jabal School and Nusaybah Girls' School, as well as within the geographical area of the General Directorate for Plant Protection. The initiative aims to expand green spaces, reduce pollution, and restore the urban character of neighborhoods and facilities in the Capital Secretariat.
At the launch, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for the Plant Production Sector Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sarraji affirmed that the initiative reflects the attention being given to tree planting and improvement efforts in conjunction with the celebration of the Prophet's Birthday. He noted that such efforts contribute to enhancing the appearance of neighborhoods and streets and encourage the community to actively participate in voluntary and development initiatives.
He underscored the importance of establishing community initiatives as a key pillar for environmental protection and encouraging society to care for vegetation and green cover.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Education for the Basic Education Sector Hadi Ammar explained that the participation of the education sector seeks to raise students' environmental awareness and instill the values of volunteerism and social responsibility in their behavior. He noted that linking such initiatives to the commemoration of the Prophet's Birthday reinforces noble values that call for construction, development, and environmental stewardship.
