Conclusion of Fifth Scientific Conference on Cardiology in Ibb Emphasizes Advancements and Support for Cardiac Care

Sana'a: The Fifth Scientific Conference on Cardiology concluded on Thursday in Ibb province, marking a significant event in the medical field. The conference, organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ibb University, Jiblah University, and Al-Thawra Teaching Hospital Authority, was held under the supervision of the Medical Council and Al-Badr International Hospital.

According to Yemen News Agency, the two-day conference attracted 800 specialists from Yemen, India, and several Arab countries. A total of 37 research papers were presented, focusing on the latest developments in cardiology and advancements in the field. Participants emphasized the importance of continuously developing doctors' scientific and academic levels and highlighted the role of medical conferences in bringing together leading experts and professionals worldwide.

The conference concluded with several recommendations, including supporting newly graduated doctors and those interested in cardiology and cardiovascular specialties. Participants called for facilitating enrollment in local and international programs and encouraging scientific research. The need to keep pace with global medical advancements was also stressed, aiming to address the challenges faced by doctors in Yemen in cardiology and cardiac surgery.

Attendees urged greater attention to cardiac centers in hospitals and institutions, advocating for continued support to provide high-quality care for cardiac patients. They emphasized the need for developing diagnostic tools currently lacking in Ibb, such as cardiac MRI and CT scanners, and advanced treatment devices like ECMO, Impella, and pacemakers. This initiative aims to reduce patient suffering and the costs associated with traveling outside the governorate for treatment.

The conference further recommended forming local committees of cardiology consultants and specialists to draft medical guidelines based on conference recommendations and international standards tailored to local conditions. Participants called for teams to manage cases of heart failure, rheumatic fever, and hypertension, focusing on raising awareness among doctors and patients.

Additionally, the conference stressed the importance of monitoring cardiac risk factors and raising community awareness through various media platforms to reduce cardiovascular diseases' prevalence. The significance of scientific research in cardiology was highlighted, with a call to continue studies on common heart diseases to guide appropriate treatment strategies.

The closing ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Deputy Ministers of Health and Environment for Planning, Dr. Abdulmalik Al-San'ani; Ibb Governorate Health Affairs Director, Dr. Ashraf Al-Mutawakkil; Ibb University President, Dr. Nasr Al-Hajili; Al-Thawra Hospital Authority Head, Dr. Abdulghani Ghabsha; and Amran University President, Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhali. Conference Chair Dr. Jalal Taher praised the active participation and dedication of attending doctors and surgeons, emphasizing the positive impact of medical attention and commitment to scientific training on advancing specialized medical care in cardiology across the country.

Dr. Taher commended the efforts of the supervisory, organizational, and scientific committees contributing to the success of this fifth consecutive cardiology conference in Ibb, which aligns with developments in the field. The closing ceremony also saw the presence of Ibb Health Office Deputy Director, Dr. Bakil Al-Jahafi; Head of the Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Center at Al-Thawra Hospital, Dr. Radwan Al-Oudi; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ibb University, Dr. Basheer Al-Amwi; Deputy Head of Al-Thawra Hospital Authority in Sana'a, Dr. Najeeb Abu Asba'; Directors of Al-Badr International Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Mahrous; and the Ibb University Conference Administration Director, Dr. Fadl Al-Hadrami.
