Sana'a: A meeting was held today at the Capital Secretariat, chaired by Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, Head of the Social Affairs Committee in the Secretariat's Local Council, to discuss the mechanism for resuming the joint campaign to remove informal settlements and address traffic congestion in the streets and districts of the capital.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included key figures such as Directors of Public Works, Engineer Abdul Salam Al-Jaradi; Sanitation, Ibrahim Al-Sarabi; Traffic, Colonel Najeeb Al-Asadi; and the Transport Authority branch, Mohamed Al-Shahari, among other officials. The focus was on organizing traffic flow and removing random structures from main streets.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to relocate informal markets to designated sites that would ensure a safe environment for vendors and facilitate smooth traffic flow. Attendees also decided to remove damaged and abandoned vehicles, coordinating with the Sanitation Project. A deadline starting next Saturday was set for vehicle owners to voluntarily remove their abandoned vehicles, after which usable ones will be transferred to the Traffic Department.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed executive regulations signed between the Ministries of Interior, Public Works, and Transport on organizing transport sorting operations. There was an emphasis on transforming Bab Al-Yemen station into a model sorting center for inter-governorate taxis, with plans to replicate this model across other sorting points.

Al-Naqeeb praised the Traffic Police's efforts and affirmed the Secretariat's support for initiatives aimed at regulating traffic, reducing congestion, and removing informal structures. The Director of Traffic highlighted the Ministry of Interior and Traffic Police leadership's interest in these measures, citing their importance for road safety and protection of lives and property.

Directors of Public Works, Sanitation, and the Transport Authority branch confirmed ongoing coordination with the Traffic Department, noting improvements in safety, organization, and the city's aesthetic appearance. A field visit to the Bab Al-Yemen sorting site was conducted to assess preparations for its rehabilitation.
