Emergency Committee in Sana’a Governorate Discusses Readiness Enhancement Mechanisms

Sana'a: The Emergency Committee in Sana'a Governorate discussed in its meeting today, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Services Sector and Deputy Head of the Committee, Fares Al-Kahali, mechanisms for enhancing readiness to face emergency situations in the governorate center and districts.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included key figures such as the Deputy Governor for Technical Affairs, Engineer Saleh Al-Muntasir; the Directors of Works, Engineer Mohammed Ashia; the Cleaning Fund, Engineer Sami Al-Turabi; Operations, Ibrahim Al-Faseeh; the Acting Director of the Executive Unit for Projects, Engineer Mohammed Makram; and the Deputy Director of the Health Office, Dr. Mujahid Al-Ramaim. They addressed the role of relevant authorities in managing emergencies resulting from flood flows, thunderstorms, and other emergency situations during and after rainfall.

The meeting emphasized the importance of equipping emergency committees in the governorate center and districts with the necessary capabilities, mechanisms, and equipment to perform their tasks efficiently. It highlighted the need for increased efforts and enhanced coordination and integration among various authorities to ensure rapid response to any emergency.

The committee approved several measures aimed at strengthening the emergency sector and raising readiness levels in the governorate's districts. These measures are designed to ensure effective handling of any developments during the coming period.

Additionally, the Deputy Head of the Committee and committee members visited several main and secondary streets and areas in the governorate center. They reviewed ongoing interventions to mitigate flood damage and alleviate citizens' suffering during the current rainy season. They praised the implementation level of emergency interventions and urged for their speedy completion. They also advocated for the development of a comprehensive plan to promptly address damage, protect streets, and remove waste from drainage channels of floods flowing from the surrounding mountains and valleys.
