Sanaa: The "Eye of Humanity" Center for Rights and Development held a press conference titled "Ten Years of Aggression and Siege," unveiling detailed statistics on the consequences of the US-Saudi-UAE aggression coalition's actions against Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's report disclosed that the decade-long conflict has resulted in 51,574 civilian casualties, with 18,671 individuals losing their lives, including 4,158 children and 2,497 women, and 32,903 sustaining injuries, among them 5,189 children and 3,095 women. The ongoing bombing and siege have led to extensive destruction of crucial infrastructure such as airports, power plants, roads, bridges, and communication networks. Economic facilities, including factories, fuel stations, markets, and food storage centers, have also suffered, precipitating a humanitarian crisis marked by increased poverty, famine, and mortality rates, particularly among children due to malnutrition and inadequate healthcare.
The report further emphasized that the coalition's systematic targeting of civilian facilities violates international law. The imposed blockade has deprived millions of essential resources, including food, medicine, and fuel, described by the center as collective punishment and a crime against humanity. The center called for the international community to terminate the aggression, lift the siege, and ensure accountability for the perpetrators through an independent international investigation.
The conference also appealed for heightened humanitarian relief efforts and solidarity with the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples, highlighting that the restrictions on ports and airports represent a crime that must be immediately halted. It reaffirmed that defending one's homeland is a legitimate right enshrined in international law.
The event attracted significant attention from both local and international media, alongside human rights activists and civil society organizations, who underscored the necessity for increased media and diplomatic endeavors to unveil the crimes of the aggression to the global audience.
