Sanaa:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed support for the positive points made by the Russian and Chinese Permanent Representatives during a Security Council briefing by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry emphasized Sanaa's willingness to ensure humanitarian facilities like airports and seaports are spared from blockades and attacks. They clarified misrepresentations made by representatives of colonialist states, asserting that the Saudi regime is responsible for keeping Sana'a International Airport closed and ending the de-escalation phase by targeting the airport on July 13th to block a humanitarian flight.
The ministry argued that any attempts to impose a Saudi occupation on Yemen are unacceptable. It also criticized those who support Saudi military actions while denying Yemen's right to defend itself, labeling them complicit in crimes against Yemenis.
The statement highlighted the issue of national sovereignty, particularly over the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and criticized the transformation of this area into a military zone by Saudi Arabia. The ministry warned that ongoing military operations there could harm trade and stressed that all parties should acknowledge the Saudi responsibility for this.
The ministry disputed the portrayal of the Yemen situation as an internal conflict, citing ongoing Saudi military actions since March 2015. It condemned the colonial agenda of imposing Riyadh-based mercenaries on Yemenis and called for global pressure on Saudi Arabia to end its interference and hostilities, aiming for peace and stability in the region.
