Sana'a: The Healthcare Association for Affected Communities is set to launch its 73rd free eye surgery medical camp next Monday in Damt District, Al-Dhale' Governorate. The initiative, which will run from Dhul-Qi'dah 24-27, is funded by the General Authority of Zakat in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment, and it aims to provide much-needed eye care services to the local population.
According to Yemen News Agency, the camp will take place at Damt Rural Hospital and will focus on offering free eye examinations and cataract surgeries. Dr. Hassan Tammah, Chairman of the Health Committee at the Zakat Authority, emphasized that the medical camps are designed to support citizens in remote areas who have limited access to healthcare services. These efforts are part of the Zakat Authority's broader humanitarian projects aimed at reaching individuals eligible for zakat assistance.
Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, Chairman of the Healthcare Association, stated that this camp is a continuation of the previous 72 camps conducted by the association across different governorates. These efforts have benefited 96,061 individuals and facilitated 12,793 surgeries. During the first three days of the camp, patients will undergo examinations and screenings to identify cases requiring surgical intervention, along with necessary pre-operation medical tests. Dr. Al-Attab expressed appreciation for the Zakat Authority's support in alleviating the healthcare challenges faced by citizens.
