Berlin: Germany began implementing a temporary reduction in the energy tax on gasoline and diesel for two months on Friday, in a move aimed at mitigating the sharp rise in fuel prices for consumers resulting from the repercussions of the US-Israeli attack on Iran. According to Yemen News Agency, the temporary tax amendment law has resulted in a decrease in fuel prices by approximately 17 cents per liter. German Minister of Economy and Energy, Katharina Reich, has urged oil companies to ensure that the full energy tax reduction is passed on to consumers. The German Automobile Club (ADAC) noted that the tax reduction took effect at midnight. However, the prices did not fully reflect the decrease in the early hours of Friday morning. The price of Super E10 gasoline saw a reduction of 10.7 cents compared to the previous day, settling at 1.976 pounds per liter, while diesel prices fell by 10.4 cents to 2.063 pounds per liter. On April 24, the German Federal Council approved the reduction in energy tax rates on diesel and gasoline for a period of two months, starting from the beginning of this month. The reduction amounts to 14.04 cents per liter, equivalent to a value-added tax of about 17 cents per liter.
