Rome: The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported today, Friday, that global food commodity prices declined in November, marking the third consecutive month of decreases.
According to Yemen News Agency, the average index stood at 125.1 points in November, down 1.2 percent from 126.6 points in October.
Prices fell across most major commodity groups, with decreases in dairy products, meat, vegetable oils, and sugar, while the cereal price index increased last month.
The FAO attributed the decline to ample global supply and expanded availability in export markets, which heightened competition and eased price pressures.
Earlier, the organization had reported that global food prices fell in October for the second consecutive month, driven by abundant supplies of agricultural products worldwide.
