Doha: Gold prices held steady in early Asian trading on Friday as investors awaited key inflation data for clues on the U.S. Federal Reserve's next moves ahead of next week's meeting. Spot gold was trading at $4,208.46 per ounce, on track for a weekly decline of 0.5%, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery fell 0.1% to $4,237.70 per ounce.
According to Yemen News Agency, yields on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds approached their highest level in more than two weeks, while the dollar slipped, remaining near a five-week low against a basket of currencies. Low interest rates typically support non-yielding assets like gold.
Among other precious metals, silver rose 0.5% to $57.40 per ounce after hitting a record high of $58.98 last Wednesday, heading for weekly gains. In contrast, platinum fell 0.4% to $1,640.25, while palladium increased 0.9% to $1,461.67.
