Hajjah Zakat Office Marks Prophet’s Birthday, Launches Charity Projects

Hajjah: Zakat Authority's office in Hajjah governorate organized on Sunday a speech event to mark the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and launch a series of decentralized charity projects for the fourth quarter of 2026, with a total value of 482.083 million rials. The projects, targeting people unable to work, cash and medical assistance, hospitals, debtors, and other beneficiaries, are expected to benefit 9,753 people.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the event and launch ceremony, Hajjah Undersecretary Ahmed Al-Akhfash praised the Zakat Authority and its office in the governorate for implementing charitable and humanitarian projects aimed at alleviating citizens' suffering amid the continued repercussions of the aggression and siege. He stressed the importance of drawing lessons from the Prophet's noble biography, particularly in following his example, striving in the cause of God, and confronting tyranny and aggression. He also highlighted the importance of using the occasion to reform and refine people's character, strengthen social solidarity, and reinforce the culture of jihad and martyrdom in emulation of the Prophet Muhammad.

Al-Akhfash called for continued celebrations and evening events marking the Prophet's birthday and mobilization for the Muhammadan events and festivals on 12 Rabi' Al-Awwal. For his part, Director of the Zakat Authority Office Fayed Al-Malahi reviewed the projects launched by the Authority to mark the Prophet's birthday, as well as its quarterly zakat disbursement programs. He highlighted the significance of zakat, the third pillar of Islam, which the Prophet emphasized in numerous hadiths because of its great importance. He also reviewed the Authority's centrally funded projects and noted that files are submitted daily to facilitate major surgical procedures for patients from the governorate.

Al-Malahi called on zakat payers to fulfill their zakat obligations and purify their wealth so that God may bless it, urging broad participation in the central events on 12 Rabi' Al-Awwal in a manner reflecting the profound bond with the Prophet Muhammad. For his part, member of the Yemeni Scholars Association Sheikh Abdulmajid Sharaf Al-Din described the launch of the charity programs as an expression of love for the Prophet and a celebration of the anniversary of the final Prophet's birth. He explained that commemorating the Prophet's birthday represents a revival of the noble values upheld by the final Prophet and master of messengers, stressing the importance of expressing joy at the birth of the Prophet of guidance, who was sent as a mercy to the worlds, expressing love for him, adhering to his example, and following his path.
