Sanaa: The Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban, on Sunday inspected the progress of work at the Isnad Psychiatric Hospital. Minister Shaiban, accompanied by the Director of the Health Office in the Capital Secretariat, Dr. Mutahhar Al-Marouni, and representatives from the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund, and the Family Guidance Development Foundation, assessed the medical performance in various specialized departments including the laboratory, pharmacy, and inpatient wards.
According to Yemen News Agency, the visiting delegation received a detailed briefing from the hospital director, Dr. Abdul-Ilah Al-Mutawakkil, on the hospital's needs for medicines and medical supplies, staff training, and the challenges faced due to the increasing number of cases stemming from the ongoing aggression and blockade on Yemen. Dr. Al-Mutawakkil highlighted the medical and therapeutic services provided to patients and the accompanying activities that support patient care.
During the visit, Minister Shaiban commended the hospital's medical services, psychological care, and therapeutic care offered to patients, noting the dedication of qualified medical personnel in psychiatry. He regarded the Isnad Psychiatric Hospital as a model for providing exemplary medical services and patient care, urging for its practices to be replicated in other psychiatric centers across various governorates.
Minister Shaiban emphasized the importance of cooperative efforts to address the hospital's needs for medicines and medical supplies, aiming to enhance the services and care for patients. He reiterated the Ministry's commitment to supplying medications for psychiatric treatments at specialized centers, including Isnad Hospital, and ensuring medication availability for patients post-discharge.
The visit aimed to inform international organizations about the challenges faced by patients with psychiatric conditions in Yemen, particularly in terms of medicine and medical supply shortages exacerbated by the conflict and blockade. Dr. Shaiban was joined by Murtada Al-Murtada, Director of Technical Cooperation and International Relations at the Ministry of Health and Environment, and Dr. Muammar Al-Fahd, Technical Director of Isnad Hospital for Psychiatry.
