Hodeidah Governor Launches Market Control Campaign for Ramadan

Hodeidah: The Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Atifi, launched today a supply control campaign on markets, implemented by the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment, coinciding with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan.

According to Yemen News Agency, the campaign aims to strengthen price monitoring, control supply violations in markets and commercial shops, and ensure adherence to the approved price list and its clear display to citizens, contributing to the stability of supply conditions and preventing any monopolistic practices or exploitation, especially with the increased demand for basic commodities during Ramadan.

During the launch in Hodeidah city, the Governor listened to an explanation from the leadership of the Economy Office about the campaign's implementation mechanism, field visit plans to markets and shops, and the level of coordination with relevant authorities to ensure price stability and prevent any manipulation or monopoly of basic goods, particularly given the increased demand during Ramadan.

Governor Atifi emphasized the importance of intensifying oversight efforts to protect citizens from any exploitative practices, stressing the necessity of adhering to the price list and displaying it clearly in all shops for consumers.

He pointed out that the local authority will support field control teams and work to enhance coordination with relevant authorities to ensure market stability and commodity availability, contributing to supply stability and alleviating burdens on citizens.

During the launch and market visit, attended by the Deputy Governors for Services Affairs Mohammed Haleesi and for Hodeidah City Sector Ali Kabari, and the Central Security Commander in the governorate Colonel Radwan Hames, the Director of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in the governorate, Saleh Ateefah, explained that the campaign is part of an integrated plan targeting central markets, commercial neighborhoods, and the governorate's districts, to control prices, monitor commodity quality, and ensure their suitability for human consumption.

He pointed out that inspection teams will carry out daily visits during Ramadan and will receive and immediately respond to citizen complaints, calling on traders to cooperate with control teams and comply with laws and regulations governing commercial activity.

Ateefah affirmed that the office will not tolerate any supply violations, and violation reports will be issued against offenders and referred to the competent authorities, enhancing the climate of supply stability and protecting consumers from fraud and monopoly.
