Sanaa: A meeting in Ibb Governorate today, chaired by Governor Abdulwahid Salah, discussed ways to enhance community efforts to implement the community initiative project to rehabilitate the road of Al-Miftah Sub-District in Ash-Sha'ar District and its branches, with a length of ten kilometers.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative, implemented by the area's residents with support from the governorate's sons working abroad, aims to carry out expansion, concrete paving, and asphalt works for the road over a length of seven kilometers, and rehabilitate four branch roads over a length of three kilometers, at an estimated cost of two million dollars.
The meeting, which included the Director General of Community Initiatives in the governorate, Bandar Al-Ahdal, the Director of Ash-Sha'ar District, Ashraf Al-Salahi, the Head of the Community Committee for the project, Saddam Abbad, and members of the fundraising committee, touched upon the arrangements for launching the initiative project and its implementation mechanisms.
Governor Salah listened to an explanation from the Head of the Community Committee about the rehabilitation works on the road, which serves more than 300,000 people from the sub-districts of Al-Miftah, Al-Muqanna', Al-Fajrah, and Al-Ramaznah in Ash-Sha'ar and An-Nadirah districts, and its importance in enhancing connectivity between the targeted areas.
Abbad explained that the project represents a vital artery for the region, due to its role in facilitating citizen movement, delivering services, and supporting agricultural activity by facilitating the movement of machinery and equipment, in addition to contributing to revitalizing tourist and commercial movement in the valleys of Akhdar, Al-Laha, and Al-Ma'li.
Governor Salah affirmed that the local authority leadership pays utmost attention to community initiatives as a fundamental tributary to development, stressing the importance of concerted official and community efforts to accelerate the implementation of service projects that directly address the needs of citizens.
He pointed out that the Al-Miftah Sub-District road project is one of the vital projects that will contribute to improving the level of services and alleviating the suffering of citizens, calling on businessmen and expatriates to continue their support for such qualitative initiatives that reflect the spirit of cooperation and community responsibility.
The Governor of Ibb urged those in charge of the initiative to quickly complete the technical studies and begin implementation, given the importance of the project in serving the area's residents, directing the Community Initiatives Department to support the project and include it among the priorities of projects planned for implementation in the near future.
He praised the initiatives of the people of Ash-Sha'ar District in funding and implementing many service projects, which have contributed to enhancing local development and alleviating the suffering of citizens.
For his part, the Director General of Community Initiatives in the governorate explained that the project comes within the directives of the local authority to activate community initiatives as a key partner in development.
He affirmed the department's keenness to provide all aspects of technical and supervisory support to ensure the project's implementation according to the required specifications.
Meanwhile, the Director of Ash-Sha'ar District pointed out that the project represents a pressing demand for the district's residents, given the qualitative leap it will achieve in the level of services and development, appreciating the efforts of the area's residents and expatriates in adopting and supporting this initiative.
