Taiz:The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms has condemned continued Saudi attacks on civilians in the Taiz province, labeling these acts as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which is designed to protect civilians and prohibit their targeting.
According to Yemen News Agency, the organization reported that Saudi airstrikes in the Bani Amer area of Al-Shamayatayn district resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to four others, including a young girl. Additionally, artillery shelling by Saudi-backed mercenaries targeted a house in the Al-Ram Al-A'la area of Haifan district, killing a man and injuring his wife.
The organization emphasized that such attacks on residential areas endanger civilian lives and violate international humanitarian law, which mandates clear distinctions between civilians and combatants and prohibits indiscriminate attacks. The casualties, particularly among women and children, represent human tragedies that devastate families and leave civilians living under constant threat.
Insan Organization held the international community and the United Nations accountable for their inaction in stopping these crimes against civilians in Yemen. They warned that continued silence would perpetuate a culture of impunity and undermine the credibility of international justice.
The organization called for an immediate cessation of attacks on civilians and their homes, accountability for those responsible, compensation for the victims, and serious international efforts to protect civilians and prevent further violations. They reaffirmed that crimes against civilians must not go unpunished and that legal accountability should remain enforceable regardless of the time elapsed.
