Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced on Sunday the resumption of Iranian gas pumping at a rate of five million cubic meters per day, following the completion of necessary maintenance work. According to Yemen News Agency, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Mousa, confirmed in a release to the Iraqi News Agency (WAW) that the gas supply from Iran has resumed. This resumption is crucial as it restores the operational capacity at the Al-Samawah and Al-Mansouriyah power plants, which had been affected by the previous gas shortage. Mousa elaborated that the repairs at the Khor Mor gas field have played a significant role in this development. The field's operation contributes approximately 700 megawatts to the national electricity grid, sourced from investment power plants in the Kurdistan Region. He further mentioned ongoing high-level coordination with the region's electricity authorities to reinstate power purchase contracts to their previous state.
