Sanaa: The Prophet's Birthday Football Championship was launched in Bani Matar District in Sana'a Governorate on the Great Prophet's Cup for the junior and youth categories, with the participation of 16 teams divided into four groups, organized by the Youth and Sports Office and the Youth Unit in the Directorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament came as part of the activities to celebrate the Prophet's birthday, and officials confirmed that it aims to develop the skills of young people and enhance their sports participation.
On the opening day, three matches were held:
The Red Unity team defeated the Stars of Beit Athran with five clean goals.
Al-Annabi team defeated Al-Masjid by five goals to four.
Al-Aws Moheeb team defeated Dhamman by three goals without reply.
The opening was attended by a number of leaders of the Youth Bureau, the organizing committee, and the participating teams.
