Launch of Zakat al-Fitr and Cash Assistance Projects in Ibb

Al-hodeidah: The Governor of Ibb, Abdulwahid Salah, inaugurated the cash assistance and Zakat al-Fitr projects as part of the Ramadan charity initiatives implemented by the General Authority for Zakat office in the governorate for the year 1447 AH. The two projects, with a combined total cost of 742 million and 360 thousand Yemeni riyals, aim to alleviate the suffering of 37,118 poor, needy, and disabled individuals across various villages and sub-districts of the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the inauguration, Governor Salah highlighted the role of the revolutionary and political leadership in directing Zakat funds to the channels prescribed by Allah in the Holy Qur'an, contributing to social solidarity and reaching the most vulnerable groups. He noted that Zakat is a fundamental pillar in strengthening the values of compassion and social support among members of society, helping the poor and needy, easing their hardships, and reinforcing community cohesion.

The Governor also affirmed the local authority's support for the Zakat office in the governorate, enabling it to implement its charitable programs and projects and expand its services to eligible beneficiaries. He described the Ramadan charity projects as a practical example of embodying solidarity and compassion within the community, bringing joy to poor and needy families, especially with the approaching Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Governor Salah called on merchants, the wealthy, and all obligated individuals to promptly pay their Zakat through the official channels of the Authority, ensuring it reaches its rightful recipients according to Shariah provisions and maximizing its positive impact on society.

For his part, the Director of the Zakat Office in the governorate, Majid Al-Tina, stated that the total cost of this year's Ramadan charity projects reached 990 million Yemeni riyals. He explained that these projects included the 'Rahma'a Baynahum' initiative at a cost of 750 million riyals, food baskets costing 80 million riyals, Eid clothing at 130 million riyals, and charitable kitchens at 30 million riyals.

Al-Tina pointed out that the number of beneficiaries of the Ramadan charity projects reached approximately 37,000 families, in addition to more than 33,000 individuals benefiting from accompanying programs and initiatives implemented by the Zakat office in the governorate. He also praised the support of the local authority leadership and the branch of the General Post Authority in the governorate for assisting the Zakat office in delivering Zakat to its rightful recipients across the villages and sub-districts of Ibb.
