Sana'a: A meeting held today in Sana'a, chaired by the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Hassan Al-Saadi, discussed mechanisms for developing the vocational education system and aligning its outputs with labor market requirements, contributing to strengthening the role of community colleges in preparing qualified national competencies and supporting development paths.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting saw the participation of Deputy Minister Dr. Hatim Al-Da'is, the Ministry's deputies, several relevant general directors, and deans of private community colleges in the Capital Secretariat and the governorates. They reviewed ways to advance vocational education programs, update professional bachelor's programs, and enhance the bridging system to align with scientific developments and labor market needs.
The attendees explored methods to improve the quality of educational and training programs in community colleges, develop study plans, expand professional bachelor's programs, and enhance the bridging system. This approach aims to facilitate students' transition between educational tracks following academic controls and standards, ensuring output quality and offering vocational education graduates broader opportunities to advance their university and specialized education, thus boosting human resource efficiency and labor market alignment.
Minister Al-Saadi emphasized that developing vocational and technical education is a fundamental pillar of the Ministry's strategy to enhance the higher education system. He highlighted its role as a primary source for preparing qualified national competencies capable of contributing to construction and development.
He stressed the importance of enhancing applied education and updating academic and professional programs according to quality and academic accreditation standards to meet labor market needs. He noted that community colleges play a pivotal role in qualifying technical and professional cadres capable of competing in the market.
The Minister elaborated that professional bachelor's programs and the bridging system represent a strategic step toward integrating educational paths, offering community college graduates the opportunity to continue their studies according to academic controls that ensure quality outputs and graduate efficiency. He called for strengthened partnership and coordination between the Ministry and community colleges to achieve a qualitative leap in vocational education.
