Al-hodeida: A meeting was held today in Al-Hodeida Governorate, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Services Affairs, Mohammed Halisi, to discuss interventions and precautionary measures for responding to and preventing acute watery diarrhea for the year 2026, and to support the Ministry of Health's efforts in implementing the matrix of roles and responsibilities for relevant authorities to confront the disease and mitigate its risks.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the Coordinator of the Acute Watery Diarrhea Program at the Ministry of Health and Environment, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zubair, the Director of the Health and Environment Office in the governorate, Dr. Ali Al-Haddad, the Director General of Media, Ibrahim Al-Za'our, and a number of Executive Office Directors General. They reviewed the level of implementation of preventive measures and the health awareness plan, enhancing integration among relevant authorities in the early response to reports and cases.
The meeting emphasized the importance of intensifying awareness messages through various means, urging mosque preachers to include health guidance related to prevention in Friday sermons, along with broadcasting awareness flashes and announcements via radio and television, and disseminating text messages through telecommunications networks.
It stressed the implementation of field awareness campaigns targeting farmers and local communities, enhancing health education in schools, and raising awareness of the dangers of open defecation and the necessity of adhering to proper health practices, contributing to protecting the community and reducing the causes of the spread of epidemic diseases.
The meeting also approved the enhancement of measures related to the safety and treatment of water sources, activating the regulatory and awareness roles of relevant authorities, along with operating cholera treatment centers and raising their readiness to receive cases and provide necessary healthcare.
The attendees affirmed the importance of continued coordination between health, executive, and community sectors, and the integration of preventive and therapeutic efforts, ensuring rapid response and enhancing the level of health protection in the governorate.
