Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a today, chaired by the Acting Prime Minister, scholar Mohammed Miftah, focused on enhancing public cleanliness, environmental protection, and preserving the general appearance of the Capital Sanaa and Sana'a Governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included key figures such as the Mayor of the Capital Secretariat Dr. Hamoud Obad, Sana'a Governor Abdulbasit Al-Hadi, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulmajid Al-Murtada, and First Undersecretary of the Capital Sanaa Khaled Al-Madani. The participants reviewed the complementary roles of central and local authorities in developing an executive mechanism to prevent random dumping of waste and to hold violators accountable, aiming to avert environmental pollution and maintain the public appearance.
The attendees underscored the significance of active community participation in ensuring the success of cleanliness initiatives, which primarily aim to safeguard public health and safety, and enhance the cleanliness of neighborhoods and districts.
The meeting concluded with the establishment of a committee comprising specialists from the Public Works sector in the Capital Sanaa and the governorate, along with representatives from the Ministry of Interior and relevant entities. This committee is tasked with preparing the executive mechanism within two days, with plans for its approval and implementation in the near future.
The Acting Prime Minister highlighted the necessity for coordinated central and local efforts to implement the mechanism and achieve its environmental objectives. He commended the efforts by the Capital Sanaa and the governorate in areas of cleanliness, improvement, and waste removal, urging all parties to intensify their efforts in this crucial field. He also emphasized the vital role of society in ensuring the success of the mechanism, contributing to the cleanliness of neighborhoods and streets as part of the cultural values inherited from previous generations.
