Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted the continuation of varying and scattered thunderstorms over several governorates during the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin highlights the expectation of thunderstorms of varying intensity, accompanied by strong downdraft winds and hail, over parts of the deserts and highlands of Hadramawt and Shabwah governorates. These conditions are also anticipated in the governorates of Al-Bayda, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, western Saada, and the highlands of Abyan and Lahj, as well as the Tihama Plain.
Scattered rainfall, occasionally accompanied by thunder, is also likely to occur over parts of the governorates of Amran, Hajjah, Sana'a, Al-Jawf, and Ma'rib, along with parts of the western coasts. The center has warned citizens of the potential for flash floods and advised against being in their paths or attempting to cross them on foot or by vehicles during and after rainfall.
Additionally, the center has advised caution due to the dangers of thunderstorms, recommending individuals avoid elevated areas, remain distant from trees and tall towers, refrain from using mobile phones, and disconnect sensitive electrical and electronic devices, including solar energy systems, during thunderstorms.
The center has also highlighted the risks of rockfalls and mudslides, particularly on mountainous slopes and roads, as well as the potential collapse of buildings and mud-brick forts due to ongoing rainfall. It has urged relevant authorities to implement appropriate precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
