Meteorology Forecasts Moderate to Heavy Thundery Rainfall Over Yemen

Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast moderate to heavy thundery rainfall over parts of several governorates during the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center predicts that areas in the governorates of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Lahj, and the Tihama Plain will experience moderate to heavy thundery rainfall. These conditions may be accompanied by downdraft winds and possibly hail.

In addition, rainfall of varying intensity, along with thunder, is likely in parts of Hadramawt, Shabwah, Abyan, Al-Bayda, Ma'rib, Al-Jawf, and Saada. The forecast also extends to the western, eastern, and southern coasts and the adjacent inland areas.

The center has issued warnings to citizens, advising them to avoid being present in ravines, valleys, and flood channels during and after rainfall. Drivers are cautioned against crossing ground-level bridges during floods. Further warnings include the potential for rockslides and mudslides on roads and mountainous slopes, as well as reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall and fog.

To ensure safety during thunderstorms, the center recommends citizens avoid elevated areas, tall trees, and metal structures. It is advised not to use mobile phones during storms and to disconnect the electrical power supply as a precautionary measure. The center has also called on relevant authorities to take necessary actions to safeguard lives and property.
