Sanaa: Yemen's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, stressed the importance of folk arts in showcasing the rich and authentic folklore of Yemen and its deep-rooted cultural heritage, as well as in expressing national and broader Arab causes.
According to Yemen News Agency, during a meeting with the National Folk Arts Troupe, affiliated with the Ministry, Dr. Al-Yafei emphasized the influential role that folk arts can play in addressing national issues and major pan-Arab causes - most notably the Palestinian cause - through the troupe's performances at various events and national occasions.
He also underscored the importance of the troupe's work reflecting the authenticity of Yemeni civilizational heritage, while preserving the country's faith-based identity and adhering to traditional values, customs, and societal norms.
Al-Yafei praised the troupe's contribution through artistic pieces, zawamil (traditional chants), and folkloric dances, particularly during public marches supporting Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
He affirmed the Ministry's readiness to support the National Folk Arts Troupe to enable it to perform its role effectively and at full capacity.
