Ministry Condemns Saudi Attack on Chemico Factory in Taiz

Taiz:The Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment has condemned the recent attack by Saudi forces on the "Chemico" paints and chemicals factory in the Al-Rabiei area of Taiz governorate's Al-Ta'iziyah district. The factory is owned by the Ahmed Abdullah Al-Shaibani Group.

According to Yemen News Agency, the attack involved Saudi aircraft striking the factory's production and fuel storage sections, resulting in injuries to two workers, massive fires, and the destruction of the facility's infrastructure.

The Ministry highlighted the severe economic, humanitarian, and environmental implications of targeting a civilian industrial facility that houses large quantities of chemical and highly flammable substances. This incident is seen as a potential environmental and public health disaster, further endangering 500 families' livelihoods.

The Ministry has held Saudi forces fully responsible for the attack and its aftermath, describing the targeting of factories, markets, and civilian economic infrastructure as a systematic assault on the national economy and the private sector. It calls for a serious international response to ensure accountability and compensation for the incurred damages.

Efforts are underway by the Ministry to contain environmental risks, assess losses, document offenses and damages, and pursue legal action for full compensation. The aim is to protect economic facilities, investors' and workers' rights, and citizens' livelihoods.
