Sana'a: The Ministry of Information in Sana'a convened a significant media meeting today to launch an extensive media coverage plan commemorating the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and marking the one-year milestone of the Government of Change and Construction.
According to Yemen News Agency, Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Information for organizing the event that brought together key media leaders. He extended congratulations to the Minister of Information and media personnel for their substantial efforts, which have significantly improved the overall performance of official media. This enhancement aligns with local events and developments in the besieged Gaza Strip and globally.
Al-Rahwi lauded the Ministry's initiative to prepare for and cover the Prophet's birthday anniversary activities across ministries and public service units at various levels, which will continue until the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal. He also reviewed the Government of Change and Construction's reform efforts, initiated with the implementation of Republican Decree No. 23 of 1446 AH, focusing on merging and modernizing public service unit structures.
He noted that regulatory bylaw projects for four ministries have been completed and approved by the Cabinet, with three more drafts expected before the Prophet's birthday. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of addressing institutional imbalances accumulated over more than sixty years, which pose significant challenges.
The merger process revealed staffing irregularities, including duplication and fictitious employment, and the discovery of unused equipment and neglected storage facilities. Al-Rahwi highlighted the reduction of government size from 44 to 19 ministers as a vital anti-corruption measure and detailed financial reforms, including the Law of the Temporary Exceptional Mechanism to support state employees.
During its first year, the government approved several key laws, including the Pharmaceutical Law and a new Investment Law, fostering investment opportunities. Al-Rahwi also pointed out the localization of dairy production, poultry, and meat sectors, reducing imports and encouraging community-driven initiatives in vital sectors.
The Prime Minister highlighted the national media's role in exposing aggression and supporting Gaza, stressing Yemen's unique position in the Arab and Islamic world. He expressed confidence in the Palestinian people's victory and criticized the lack of support from many Arab and Islamic countries.
Grand Mufti of Yemen, Allama Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din, commended the government for its first-year achievements and emphasized the media's crucial role in maintaining Yemen's resilience. He warned against enemy attempts to manipulate media narratives and stressed the importance of an informed populace.
Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf Al-Din reiterated the significance of celebrating the Prophet's birthday as a renewal of commitment to prophetic values and praised Yemen's stance on the Palestinian cause. He highlighted the government's adherence to principles of piety, responsibility, and institutional building amid challenges.
The minister called for media coverage to expose crimes, promote resistance, and highlight government efforts. Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar Al-Bukhaiti emphasized the strategic importance of the Prophet's birthday anniversary and urged dignified media portrayal of Yemen's celebrations.
The media gathering featured cultural performances, including an operetta, a chant performance, and a poem, showcasing Yemen's rich cultural heritage.
