Hodeida: A cultural and oratorical evening was held in the northern workers' quarter of Al-Mina District in Hodeida Governorate to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad's birthday for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, Deputy Governor for Services Affairs, Muhammad Halisi, highlighted that the celebration reflects a deep-rooted connection with the Prophet Muhammad, a bond deeply ingrained in the Yemeni people's consciousness since the dawn of Islam. The occasion serves as a reaffirmation of faith and a reminder of Yemen's role in addressing issues facing the Muslim world. Halisi emphasized that the celebration occurs amidst the ongoing blockade and crimes by the Saudi regime against Yemen, linking these challenges to broader regional issues involving American and Zionist interests.
During the event, attended by Deputy Governor for City Affairs, Ali Kabari, and district director Abdullah al-Hadi, it was emphasized that the Prophet's birthday is a unifying occasion for revisiting the life of the Prophet Muhammad. Al-Hadi pointed out that Yemenis preserve this tradition as part of their identity and history. The widespread public participation in the Mawlid celebration underscores the failure of attempts to separate Yemenis from their cultural and faith-based roots.
Al-Hadi further stressed the importance of unity in confronting the economic and social challenges exacerbated by the ongoing siege. He highlighted the necessity of solidarity among the people to resist efforts of fragmentation and subjugation.
Event organizer Ammar Qabsi remarked on the unique significance of the celebration, noting the historical connection between Yemeni tribes and the Prophet Muhammad. Commemorating the occasion serves to strengthen societal cohesion around the values promoted by the Prophet, such as solidarity, mutual aid, and standing against oppression. Qabsi pointed out that these values are crucial in the face of current challenges facing the nation.
Qabsi also drew parallels between the experiences of Yemen and Palestine, framing them as part of a broader trajectory targeting the peoples and holy sites of the region. He affirmed Yemen's supportive stance towards Palestine, aligning it with the Prophet Muhammad's message of rejecting injustice and supporting the oppressed. Commemorating the Prophet's birthday renews this responsibility within the community towards national issues.
The event, attended by various officials and residents, featured songs, hymns, and expressive poems, celebrating the enduring connection between Yemenis and their faith.
