General

Sana'a: The poultry sector of the Sana'a Chamber of Commerce and Industry commended the government's efforts to protect the country's food security and thwart those spreading rumors aimed at harming national products and undermining the successes of self-sufficiency in the poultry sector.

According to Yemen News Agency, the sector praised the results of the press conference held today by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Scientific Committee at Sana'a University. The conference presented accurate scientific and laboratory data that refuted the prevailing confusion regarding the Newcastle disease outbreak and put an end to the rumors circulating on this matter.

The statement noted that the combined efforts of the Ministry, academic institutions, and the Central Veterinary Laboratory directly contributed to restoring confidence in the markets and addressing the sharp decline in demand, which had caused significant losses for small farmers and producers in recent weeks.

The statement affirmed the commitment of all manufacturers, farmers, and suppliers of production inputs to the new government directives and regulations, and their seriousness in implementing the three approved tracks. These tracks begin with strict adherence to periodic poultry vaccination and immunization programs, continue with quality control of inputs such as feed and chicks, and culminate in full cooperation with veterinary inspection teams from the Animal Health and Marketing sectors to ensure the safety of the supply chain and its compliance with approved specifications and standards.

The statement emphasized that maintaining and protecting local poultry production is a pressing national and economic necessity, as it is a fundamental pillar for providing the most affordable protein sources for citizens amidst the current economic challenges facing the country.
