Beijing: The Joint Committee for Addressing Prison and Prisoner Affairs, led by Sheikh Ali Qarsha, conducted an inspection of the conditions of detainees in holding centers and provisional reformatories in Ibb. The visit included participation from the Head of the Appellate Prosecution, Judge Abdulrahman Al-Nazili, the Head of the Committee in Ibb Governorate, Ahmad Al-Ghalibi, and several prosecution deputies.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee engaged directly with inmates at various detention facilities, including the Provisional Prison, the Prosecution Detention Center, and others associated with the Judicial Complex and courts. The discussions focused on the inmates' living, humanitarian, and legal conditions, as well as the lengths of their detention.
The committee announced preparations for the release of numerous inmates, whose cases fall under legal entitlements and humanitarian grounds, in line with leadership directives to alleviate suffering, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The visit also initiated the review of several pending cases involving claims of injustice or procedural delays, aiming to ensure justice for affected inmates.
Committee members Judge Rajih Saad Al-Din and Ahmad Qarsha emphasized the national effort to urgently and fairly address prisoner issues. They highlighted the committee's ongoing focus on reviewing case files, speeding up case resolutions, facilitating the release of eligible inmates, assisting those in financial distress, and resolving disputes through reconciliation.
Saad Al-Din and Qarsha appealed to philanthropists and business leaders to support the needy inmates and their families, following approved guidelines. These inspections are part of the committee's broader program to address prison conditions and related legal and humanitarian issues across various governorates, in response to leadership directives.
