Sana'a: The Public Roads and Bridges Corporation organized a cultural event in Sana'a on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Zaid under the slogan "Insight and Jihad." Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Corporation, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, said the occasion recalls the life of Imam Zaid, who was raised on the teachings of the Holy Qur'an under the guidance of his father, Zain Al-Abidin, and his brother, Al-Baqir. He noted that Imam Zaid devoted himself to studying and contemplating the Qur'an until its teachings became deeply rooted in his character.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Hadrami said Imam Zaid was known as the "Companion of the Qur'an" because of his devotion and deep reverence for its teachings. He described the anniversary as a faith-based and revolutionary occasion rich in lessons that inspire courage, sacrifice, and steadfastness, noting that Imam Zaid's uprising continued the path of his grandfather, Imam Hussein, in confronting oppression and tyranny.
Al-Hadrami said Imam Zaid launched his movement to reform the deteriorating state of the Muslim nation under Umayyad rule, adopting the slogan "Insight and Jihad." He added that Imam Zaid acted out of religious duty rather than personal interest, citing his well-known statement: "By Allah, the Book of Allah does not allow me to remain silent."
He stressed that the anniversary is not merely a memorial, but an opportunity to draw lessons for the present and future, deepen awareness of events, strengthen resolve, and uphold principles in confronting challenges. Al-Hadrami also said Imam Zaid's martyrdom ensured that the voice of truth would continue in the face of falsehood, adding that the occasion should motivate the Yemeni people to confront what he described as aggression and blockade through public mobilization, readiness, and sacrifice.
