Dhamar:Work was completed today in the Al-Manar District of Dhamar Governorate to reopen the main road connecting "Dhi Hood - Kahal - Ghurban - Bani Al-Saghir - Al-Ma'inah - Shriyaf." The road had been disrupted by torrential floods and heavy rains that recently affected the district.
According to Yemen News Agency, the local authority in the governorate, along with the district authorities, undertook the road reopening efforts. This was done in collaboration with the Al-Manar Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association and involved community participation. Mechanical equipment was used to remove rocks and soil, clear debris, and repair damaged sections of the route.
The Director of Al-Manar District, Mohammed Ja'ran, highlighted the significance of reopening the main road as a crucial step to alleviate the suffering of citizens and facilitate movement between isolated areas of the district. He credited the governorate's local authority leadership for providing necessary equipment and praised the community's response and initiatives. The road serves as a vital link connecting the "Dhamar - Al-Husayniyah" asphalt road with the "Dhamar - Madinat Al-Sharq" road, directly linking several isolated areas and villages.
Hamoud Sabaa, the district's local secretary, reported the completion of the first phase of reopening the main road. The effort involved two machines working from opposite directions, originating from Dhi Hood and Al-Ma'inah isolated areas, meeting in the Najd area of Ghurban. He noted that this achievement covers 30 percent of the roads affected by the floods, with ongoing efforts to reopen the remaining secondary and cut-off roads in the affected areas.
The floods caused extensive damage to infrastructure and property in Al-Manar, destroying crops and farms, and severing roads, thereby isolating numerous population areas.
