Sa'ada: Sa'ada governor Mohammed Jaber Awad on Monday inspected the work progress at the branch of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities in the governorate. During his visit, Governor Awad examined the services offered by the branch, focusing on the execution of tasks across its various departments. He also assessed the measures being implemented to curb unregulated drilling, monitor drilling rig operations, and enhance community awareness regarding the risks of water depletion.
According to Yemen News Agency, the branch director, Engineer Ahmed Al-Jaradi, provided Governor Awad with an overview of the branch's operations. This included activities aimed at safeguarding water from depletion, efforts to monitor and regulate water resources usage, and initiatives to address encroachments and violations on water basins. The briefing also highlighted achievements at the governorate level during the year 1447 AH.
Governor Awad commended the Water Authority branch's role in protecting water resources and praised its ongoing oversight and awareness-raising efforts. He emphasized the importance of improving water management efficiency to ensure the sustainability of this vital resource. The governor also engaged with citizens who had applied for water well drilling permits, discussing their challenges and instructing the branch director to address these issues while adhering to established standards for regulating drilling operations.
Governor Awad urged farmers to adopt modern irrigation systems, harness rainwater, and reduce the drilling of artesian wells to conserve the remaining groundwater reserves.
