Sana’a Mayor Reviews Restoration Efforts on Bab al-Yemen Sewer Line

Sana'a: The Mayor of Sana'a, Dr. Hamoud Uabd, inspected the ongoing repair work on a collapsed sewer line located in Bab al-Yemen Square in the Old City.

According to Yemen News Agency, officials from the local water and sanitation authority briefed the mayor on the replacement process of a 20-meter asbestos sewer line, which had collapsed due to its age. The old line is being replaced with more durable plastic pipes, which are expected to last up to 100 years.

The restoration project also focuses on the stone paving and surrounding greenery to maintain the historical character of Bab al-Yemen. The mayor emphasized the importance of accelerating the remaining work and enhancing services while preserving the heritage value of the Old City.
