Sana’a University Council Approves New Academic Programs and Policies

Sana'a: The Sana'a University Council, led by University President Dr. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, held its third regular meeting of the academic year 1447 AH to deliberate on various academic affairs, postgraduate studies, and student-related issues.

According to Yemen News Agency, the council meeting, which included vice presidents, assistants, deans, and council members, approved several key decisions. Among these was the allocation of four annual free seats in master's and doctoral programs for the university's administrative staff. Additionally, 23 faculty members were approved for regularization, settlement, and promotion.

The council also decided to contract 70 assistant faculty members across several colleges, including Sharia and Law, Agriculture, Food and Environment, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Petroleum and Natural Resources. Government community colleges were granted two postgraduate seats in specializations they currently lack. The council reduced fines on postgraduate students from 50% to 25%.

Furthermore, the council approved the renewal of departmental and faculty minutes for postgraduate students, provided more than six months had passed, while emphasizing compliance with postgraduate regulations and enrollment limits. New doctoral programs in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Economics, Finance and Banking, and Statistics were also launched.

The council endorsed amendments in maximum grades for specific medical courses to align with international standards. Results for 70 master's and doctoral students, and 18 diploma students, were approved, along with graduation lists from various colleges.

President al-Bukhaiti highlighted recent achievements, such as the launch of the 'SAR' system for postgraduate studies and the preparation of two new halls at the Electronic Testing Center, which will be equipped with 300 computers this month. He encouraged further digitization of curricula to enhance benefits for the university and its students.
