Sanaa:The Saudi military has been accused of committing a massacre targeting the workers' housing at a cement factory in the Hamdan District, Sanaa Governorate. The attack resulted in 23 casualties, including both fatalities and injuries.
According to Yemen News Agency, Saudi aircraft conducted three airstrikes on the housing facilities, which are home to more than ten families. The strikes resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including three women and four children. Additionally, 15 people sustained injuries, among them eight children with varying degrees of severity.
Local sources have called on international and humanitarian organizations to denounce the actions of the Saudi forces and to take measures to safeguard civilians and civilian infrastructures. The National Human Rights Commission has labeled the attack as a blatant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and Article 51, which prohibits targeting homes.
The Commission further criticized the attack as a systematic effort to dismantle economic infrastructure, impacting thousands of workers and families, and categorized it as a war crime. They assigned full responsibility to the Saudi regime for the casualties and urged humanitarian organizations to condemn the attack on what they termed the most vulnerable members of society, the workers' families.
