Seizure of Prohibited Pesticides in Jahran and Al-?ada’ Districts, Dhamar

Dhamar: The Agriculture Sector in Dhamar Governorate seized 15 liters of prohibited pesticides during a surprise inspection campaign targeting shops selling and trading pesticides and agricultural fertilizers in several areas of Daf in Jahran District and Yikar in Al-?ada’ District.



According to Yemen News Agency, the official in charge of the Agriculture Sector in the governorate, Dr. Adel Omar, explained that the seized quantities are highly toxic, long-lasting pesticides, considered prohibited and dangerous materials. He noted that the campaign team prepared seizure reports for these quantities, pending referral to the Public Prosecution.



Dr. Omar affirmed the continuation of monitoring and inspection work to regulate the safe handling of pesticides and prevent the spread of smuggled or expired pesticides and fertilizers, due to the risks they pose to humans, animals, plants, and the environment.



For his part, the Deputy Official of the Agriculture Sector, Engineer Hafez Al-Junaid, stated that the field visit resulted in the seizure of a quantity of expired pesticides in several shops, pointing out that the campaign aims to ensure traders’ compliance with health and legal standards and the regulations governing the sale of pesticides.



Meanwhile, the Director of the Plant Protection Department, Engineer Ateeq Al-Abrat, indicated that the field team, alongside inspection work, carried out awareness activities focused on the dangers and harms of the random use of pesticides, providing guidance on safe usage methods.
