Sana'a: The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Samir Bajaala, has lauded the unwavering commitment of Yemeni workers in the face of ongoing aggression. Their decision to forgo the celebration of International Workers' Day on May 1, in solidarity with Gaza, was a significant gesture, as residents there continue to face dire circumstances.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Bajaala emphasized the support from the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, in addressing the rights and concerns of workers who have continued their efforts in workplaces despite years of conflict and blockade.
He highlighted the resilience of Yemeni workers who have resisted attempts to disrupt their work environments by adversaries. Their dedication, even as some colleagues have been martyred, stands as a testament to their resolve against external pressures from international organizations aiming to manipulate them.
Minister Bajaala noted that the decision to cancel their international holiday was not due to financial constraints but was a deliberate choice to emphasize their values. He expressed admiration for the workers' sentiment, encapsulated in the slogan: "How can we celebrate when our brothers and sisters are being killed in Gaza and the West Bank in full view of the world?"
He further expressed surprise at their request to cancel the celebration, yet acknowledged the leadership and membership of the Yemeni Workers Union for their historic stance. He reiterated condemnation of the crimes committed by American aggression against Yemen, citing recent attacks on strategic sites such as Ras Issa Port in Hodeida, the Farwa Market in the capital, and the ceramics factory in Bani Matar in Sana'a Governorate.
