Sana'a: The Board of Directors of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) has approved new measures aimed at resolving insurance-related issues and strengthening cooperation with the private sector and its workforce. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Development and Board Chairman Dr. Khaled Al-Hawali.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by board members representing the government, employers, and workers, reviewed the organization's estimated budget for the current year and the final accounts for the previous year. The board reaffirmed its commitment to agreements reached with the Finance Ministry. Various issues concerning the organization's operations and its relationship with the private sector were discussed, leading to the approval of several proposed solutions.

To enhance cooperation with employers, the board approved a 50 percent waiver on accumulated penalties for overdue insurance contributions, in accordance with the relevant legal provisions. Employers are required to settle all outstanding insurance contributions up to the date of submitting the exemption request and pay the remaining 50 percent of the penalties. The board has granted employers a six-month period, ending on December 31, 2026, to benefit from the exemption, allowing enterprises to submit their insurance declarations and fulfill outstanding obligations.

The meeting further reviewed insurance and investment activities, emphasizing the need to remove obstacles facing the private sector and support its role as a key partner in economic development. Representatives of the private sector, employers, and workers commended the organization for maintaining its monthly payments to retirees and eligible beneficiaries. They also praised the introduction of measures that support the private sector while safeguarding workers' rights.
