Training Course on First Aid and Occupational Safety Concludes in Sana’a

Sana'a: A training course on "First Aid Basics and Occupational Safety" concluded today in Sana'a, organized by the Vocational Training Center for Roads of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, in cooperation with the Yemeni Red Crescent - Sana'a branch.

According to Yemen News Agency, the four-day course aimed to equip 53 male and female trainees from the authority's staff with practical knowledge and skills in first aid. This included handling cases of unresponsiveness, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), addressing breathing problems, managing shock and bleeding, and treating various injuries such as fractures and burns. Furthermore, the course covered identifying emergency medical conditions, environmental issues, and psychological first aid.

The objective of the course was to enhance the efficiency of workers and their readiness to manage accidents or injuries in the work environment. This initiative contributes to improving occupational safety standards and reducing risks across various work sites.

At the conclusion of the course, Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Hadrami, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the authority, highlighted the importance of continuing such training programs. He emphasized their crucial role in saving lives and minimizing injury severity.

Engineer Al-Hadrami explained that awareness of first aid and occupational safety is a fundamental pillar of a safe work environment, particularly in the roads sector, known for its risk-laden fieldwork nature.

He affirmed the leadership's commitment at the General Authority for Roads to strengthen partnerships with relevant entities, especially the Yemeni Red Crescent. Such collaborations are vital for building workers' capacities and achieving a safer, more efficient work environment.

The conclusion event was attended by project managers, Engineer Sadiq Al-Jarbani; maintenance manager, Engineer Abdul Qader Badi; central workshop manager, Engineer Zaid Al-Mawri; and the Vocational Training Center for Roads manager, Engineer Mahmoud Izz al-Din. Speeches were delivered, acknowledging the significance of these training programs in enhancing the capabilities of technical and administrative staff and underscoring the need for ongoing specialized courses.
