Hodeida: Minister of Transport Mohammed Qaheim, Public Works Minister, and Hodeida Governor Abdullah Attifi inspected the progress of recovery efforts at Hodeida Port following recent aggression on the port's facilities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the officials observed the ongoing unloading operations of arriving ships and assessed the workflow at the docks, which remain operational despite damage from direct bombardments. They were briefed by the Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, and Deputy Nasr Al-Nusairi on measures being taken to sustain port operations and conduct emergency maintenance.
During the visit, Minister Qaheim acknowledged the engineering and technical teams' efforts to rehabilitate the docks, emphasizing that repair work is advancing swiftly to maintain the flow of goods. He noted the efficient unloading of cargo and praised the dedication of port workers.
The Transport Minister condemned the targeting of Yemen's infrastructure, asserting that such acts would not hinder the Yemeni people's resilience. Governor Attifi labeled the attacks as war crimes and stressed the enemy's responsibility for targeting civilian facilities. He highlighted the port's continued operations as an indicator of the crews' efficiency.
Attifi assured that provincial leadership, in coordination with relevant authorities, would support the port's operations, vital for millions of Yemenis. Chairman Al-Washli confirmed the uninterrupted arrival of essential goods, crediting the port's personnel for maintaining smooth reception and unloading operations.
A meeting was previously held by the Transport and Public Works Ministers with the Red Sea Ports Corporation's leadership to discuss emergency plans to ensure the seamless handling of ships and cargo.
