Sana’a: On this day, March 1, a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling by US-Saudi-Emirati forces resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of civilians across various governorates in Yemen. The aggression involved both aerial and ground attacks targeting several districts.
According to Yemen News Agency, on March 1, 2016, airstrikes in Bani Yusuf district, Sana’a governorate, claimed the lives of eight citizens and injured 18 others. Further airstrikes in Khawlan district and other locations caused significant damage to infrastructure and property. Several other districts, including Nihm, Hamdan, and Bab Al-Mandab, also faced intense aerial bombardment, leading to civilian injuries and property destruction.
In Taiz governorate, a child lost their life, and six citizens sustained injuries due to an airstrike on commercial shops in the Yakhtal coastal area. The airstrikes extended to Dhubab city and various parts of Marib, Al-Jawf, and Hajjah governorates, causing widespread damage to homes, farms, and public facilities.
The following year, on March 1, 2017, airstrikes continued in Al-Hodeida, Dhamar, and Marib governorates, injuring a citizen in Ras Issa and targeting essential infrastructure. Rocket shelling by mercenaries compounded the civilian suffering in these regions, damaging homes and farms.
In 2018, the aggression’s aircraft targeted Saada governorate, resulting in the deaths of four citizens and injuries to several others, including women and children. Similar attacks in Al-Hodeida and Al-Bayda governorates caused further civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
The year 2019 witnessed renewed violence as a child was martyred by mercenaries’ fire in Al-Hodeida. Airstrikes and artillery shelling in Saada and other governorates continued to wreak havoc, with numerous airstrikes causing significant destruction to properties and farms.
On March 1, 2020, heavy artillery shelling in Marib and Sana’a governorates resulted in severe damage to homes and businesses. Mercenaries targeted various locations with artillery and machine guns, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in these areas.
The aggression persisted into 2021, with numerous airstrikes in Marib and Al-Hodeida governorates leading to further loss of life and destruction. In 2022, Saudi artillery and rocket shelling injured civilians in Saada, while airstrikes continued to target strategic locations in Hajjah and Al-Bayda governorates.
Most recently, on March 1, 2023, artillery shelling in Saada governorate resulted in the martyrdom of four citizens and the injury of another, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian impact of the conflict on the Yemeni population.
