Yemeni Parliament Speaker Urges Egypt Against Supporting Saudi Military Actions

Tunis:Yemeni Parliament Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i has sent an urgent message to Egypt's parliamentary leader, Hisham Badawi, voicing concerns over potential Egyptian support for Saudi Arabia's military actions in Yemen. Al-Ra'i's letter comes amidst reports that Egypt's parliament might convene an emergency session at the request of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to consider measures in support of Saudi Arabia.

According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Ra'i emphasized the importance of maintaining Egypt's historical ties with Yemen and supporting equitable Arab causes. He cautioned against Egypt's involvement in military actions aligned with Saudi policies, which he claimed have been detrimental to Yemen for over a decade. Al-Ra'i accused Saudi Arabia of initiating a war and blockade against Yemen, undermining peace efforts, and supporting extremist groups.

Al-Ra'i detailed Yemen's demands for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the blockade, and respect for Yemen's sovereignty. He warned that Egyptian participation in a conflict alongside extremist forces and Israel could jeopardize Egypt's national security.

Expressing hope that Egypt would continue to support Yemen's unity and stability, Al-Ra'i urged Cairo to oppose policies threatening regional peace and to work towards a comprehensive political resolution.
