Sana'a: The General Department of Cultural and Social Activities at Yemen's Ministry of Youth and Sports organized an educational tour on Friday for the delegation of Salam Al-Ghurfah Club from Hadramawt Governorate, which is participating in the Republic Football Championship, to the historic city of Old Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, the visit aimed to introduce the delegation to the city's most prominent religious and historical landmarks and highlight its rich cultural heritage. Old Sana'a is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the tour, members of the delegation performed Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque of Sana'a before visiting Al-Bakiriyah Mosque, the Qullis Chamber, and several historic markets, archaeological sites, and landmarks that showcase Yemen's distinctive architectural heritage.
The delegation also attended a lecture delivered by cultural activist Dr. Ali Amer, who discussed the historical role of Yemenis in building human civilizations and their contributions to Islamic history. He highlighted Yemen's civilization and the support provided by Yemenis to the Prophet Muhammad from the early days of Islam, as well as their role in spreading the faith through trade, moral conduct, and cultural influence.
Mohammed Haj, Director General of Cultural and Social Activities at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said the visit was part of the ministry's cultural and youth programs aimed at familiarizing young people and athletes with Yemen's historical and cultural landmarks while strengthening national identity and social bonds.
Members of the Salam Al-Ghurfah Club delegation expressed their appreciation for the visit to Old Sana'a and the warm reception they received, praising the city's rich historical and cultural heritage, which they said reflects Yemen's deep-rooted history and civilization.
