Al-Quds: The storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Zionists sends a clear message of their intent to alter the status quo in the city. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to Judaize Al-Quds and impose a new reality on the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to Yemen News Agency, there has been an increase in organized incursions by thousands of Zionists, including government officials, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This is seen as a significant violation of the sanctity of Islam's third holiest site. The actions are perceived as an exploitation of the current political climate in the Arab and Islamic world, enabling these incursions without substantial resistance.
The situation is escalating as Zionist settlers, under the protection of their forces, frequently storm the mosque, particularly during religious holidays. This has become a near-daily occurrence, threatening the identity and sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The settlers perform religious rituals and raise Israeli flags within the mosque's courtyards, actions seen as attempts to incite global Muslim sentiments.
The recent "Flag March" witnessed thousands of settlers, including ministers and Knesset members, parading through occupied Quds and the Old City. These actions were marked by assaults on Palestinians and journalists, and included the storming of the UNRWA headquarters in Sheikh Jarrah.
The Islamic Waqf Department reported that 2,092 settlers participated in incursions through the Mughrabi Gate, controlled by the occupying authorities. The Israeli police facilitated these actions, allowing multiple groups to enter the mosque simultaneously.
Muslim worshippers were barred from entering Al-Aqsa during these events, with restrictions lifted only after the incursions had concluded. This is part of a broader pattern of violations since the occupation of Al-Quds in 1967, which includes settlement expansion and attacks on holy sites, contravening the "Status Quo" agreement.
The "Status Quo" agreement, established in the 19th century and recognized internationally, governs the management of holy sites. Despite formal recognition by the Israeli entity, repeated violations have occurred, prompting international condemnation.
Experts assert that the Israeli actions aim to impose a new reality in Al-Quds, though the steadfastness of Palestinian residents continues to challenge these efforts. While geographical changes may occur, the demographic reality of the city remains resilient against attempts at Judaization.
