Sana'a: 21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the "Sada Al-Tibbi" team, organized a pioneering scientific symposium aimed at providing doctors and graduates with insights into medical specialties and postgraduate programs. This event focused on the Yemeni and Arab Boards, fellowships, master's, and medical doctorates, while also addressing the mechanisms for selecting suitable specialties in line with personal inclinations, abilities, and labor market demands.

According to Yemen News Agency, the symposium saw participation from more than 24 consultants and academics from Yemeni universities. They engaged in four sessions that delved into various medical fields, including general surgery and its subspecialties such as neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, oncology, and urology. Other sessions covered internal medicine branches like cardiology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology, as well as additional subspecialties such as ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology, forensic medicine, and anesthesia and intensive care.

Speakers at the symposium stressed the significance of early career planning and the value of clinical experiences. They also highlighted the challenges that postgraduate studies in Yemen have faced from 1994 to the present, and the crucial role these studies play in developing medical professionals despite limited resources due to ongoing aggression and siege.

The event concluded with a ceremony honoring the participants, deputy ministers, and the university president, acknowledging their contributions to the success of this landmark event, which was hailed as the first of its kind in Yemen.
