Sana'a: Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah visited the Civil Defense Authority under the Ministry of Interior, where he reviewed its operational performance and praised its efforts in responding to emergencies and protecting lives and property during years of conflict and blockade.
According to Yemen News Agency, Miftah, accompanied by Deputy Interior Minister Major General Abdulmajid Al-Murtada and Interior Ministry Services Sector Undersecretary Major General Mohammed Al-Hakim, met with Civil Defense Authority Head Brigadier Hajes Al-Jama'i and several senior officials. The visit included a briefing on the authority's current condition, its ongoing development and modernization efforts, and its operational role in managing emergency incidents such as fires, accidents, and rescue operations across the capital and governorates.
Miftah emphasized the moral and national responsibility of the Civil Defense Authority and its personnel in responding to emergencies and protecting lives and property. He praised their performance during what he described as exceptionally difficult wartime conditions, noting that the authority continued to carry out its duties despite extremely limited resources.
He also commended ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Interior and the Civil Defense Authority to rehabilitate and develop the institution, expressing appreciation for the staff across all branches and specialties. The acting prime minister stated that the government intends to address existing challenges facing the authority during the 1448 AH fiscal year, including improving resources and operational capacity to enhance emergency response capabilities.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening training and qualification programs to ensure personnel readiness, and encouraged greater use of skilled young talents in areas such as climbing and swimming after proper training and qualification to support rescue operations. Miftah also praised the authority's efforts during the Eid al-Adha holiday period, particularly its presence in high-risk areas such as dams, and its role in saving lives, including participation in recovering the body of climber Al-Qa'qa' Al-'Absi in Damt district, an operation described as notable in the region.
He stressed the importance of activating emergency response plans and improving preparedness systems, affirming that the Civil Defense Authority's work is highly valued and respected. For his part, the Head of the Civil Defense Authority reviewed the institution's operations, achievements, and key challenges, noting the need for continued government support to strengthen modernization efforts and improve operational capacity to meet public safety responsibilities under all conditions.
