Al-khabt: The Al-Khabt and Bani Saad associations in Al-Mahwit governorate are implementing development programs to support the beekeeping sector and improve its related value chains, strengthening the local economy and providing sustainable opportunities for beekeepers and farmers across the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, in Al-Khabt district, the Al-Khabt Multi-Purpose Agricultural Association conducted a field visit to honey reserves to oversee the preparation and sealing of honey produced from the Sidr harvest for the 1447 AH season. The focus is on enhancing product quality and developing the value chain associated with medicinal honey production, a notable feature of the district.
The association's technical and administrative teams examined the production stages, from collecting and sorting the honey at the peak of Sidr blossom, to filtering and packaging it according to approved standards. The association's chairman, engineer Mohammed Abbas, stated that medicinal Sidr honey is a significant economic resource in the district. He confirmed that targeted interventions will continue to improve production efficiency and strengthen consumer trust.
In Bani Saad district, the local cooperative association received one ton of medicinal Sidr honey produced in the Wadi Eshq honey reserve in Deir Al-Shareef. This is part of ongoing efforts to support beekeepers and market high-quality local products. The association's executive director, Qassem Abdullah, affirmed the association's commitment to boosting the presence of local products in markets and improving income sources for farmers and beekeepers through strategic initiatives aimed at developing cooperative capacities and supporting agricultural production.
Sidr honey production in both districts is tied to the seasonal Sidr blossom, giving the honey high nutritional and commercial value.
