Taiz: Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, met with the Joint Committee tasked with addressing issues of prisons and prisoners, under the leadership of the Revolution Leader, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badreddin Al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council. The meeting was chaired by the Committee's Vice President, Judge Rajeh Saad Al-Deen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included key figures such as the Fourth Military Region Assistant, Brigadier General Nour Al-Deen Al-Marani, Chief Public Prosecutor of Taiz, Judge Abdullah Al-Sani', and Head of the Public Funds Prosecution in the governorate, Judge Lutfi Al-Dhafri. The discussions primarily focused on the committee's program and tasks related to improving the conditions of prisoners and detainees in the governorate.
Al-Masawi emphasized the local authority's commitment to supporting the committee in resolving prisoners' issues, evaluating correctional facilities, and ensuring the provision of basic services as mandated by the system and law. He commended the committee's efforts in implementing directives from the revolutionary and political leadership concerning prisoners' conditions in the central and reserve correctional facilities.
Judge Saad Al-Deen highlighted the committee's responsibilities, which include reviewing grievances, facilitating the release of eligible prisoners, and expediting case resolutions with security services, public prosecutions, and courts. He also mentioned the committee's role in addressing citizens' grievances and aiding those in financial difficulty through pardon or guarantee.
The Vice President expressed hope for support from local authorities, public prosecutions, merchants, companies, and charitable donors to assist financially distressed individuals in securing their release. He noted that this visit marks the committee's third visit this year, focusing on meeting prisoners and inspecting detention facilities, particularly central and reserve facilities, as an initial phase.
Judge Saad Al-Deen reaffirmed the committee's dedication to completing its mission of addressing prisoner and prison issues in the governorate.
