Sana'a: The Secretary-General of the Local Council of Ibb Governorate, Amin Al-Warafi, launched a campaign to clean flash floods and waterways in the districts of the governorate center as part of the province's preparations for the upcoming rainy season.
According to Yemen News Agency, the campaign is implemented by the Public Works Office, the Sanitation and Improvement Fund, the Local Water Authority, and the Executive Unit for Road Projects, and it aims to remove debris from flood paths and open culverts and drainage channels.
During the launch, Al-Warafi emphasized that cleaning flood paths is part of the preparations for the rainy season, helping to reduce potential damages. He highlighted the importance of coordination among relevant authorities to ensure effective implementation of the campaign. He noted that these efforts are a priority and require continuous field monitoring to achieve the desired results. Al-Warafi also called on citizens to cooperate with the implementing authorities by refraining from throwing waste into flood channels and maintaining public cleanliness.
The launch, attended by the Deputy Governor Harith Al-Maliki, included remarks from the Director of the Public Works Office in the governorate, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Shami, who confirmed that work teams have begun cleaning and opening culverts and drainage channels according to a field plan targeting areas most prone to water accumulation. Meanwhile, the Director of the Sanitation and Improvement Fund, Adel Omar, explained that the campaign involves removing waste from flood paths and surrounding areas, with the participation of sanitation machinery and workers across the districts of the governorate center.
The Director of the Executive Unit for Road Projects, Engineer Khaled Al-Salahi, stated that the unit participates in the campaign by maintaining culverts, clearing damaged roads, and improving the readiness of infrastructure related to rainwater drainage.
