Chairman of HR Commission Discusses Enhancing Rights Work with Civil Society Organizations

Sanaa: Ali Saleh Taysir, head of the National Human Rights Commission, met with representatives of civil society organizations and human rights unions to discuss ways to develop human rights work.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting focused on improving partnerships in implementing programs, particularly in monitoring, documentation, and awareness-raising, to ensure effectiveness and positive societal impact. Challenges faced by civil society in their human rights activities and the Commission's role in addressing them were also discussed.

Taysir emphasized the importance of coordination between civil society organizations regarding human rights monitoring and reporting on violations and crimes against Yemen. He highlighted the Commission's commitment to constructive collaboration with civil society as a key partner in protecting and promoting human rights, noting that effective human rights work requires integrated efforts from official and non-official actors.

The Commission is preparing several human rights reports on crimes of aggression, reflecting a national role within a cooperative framework. Rami al-Yousfi, Director General of Organizations and Civil Society Affairs at the Commission, stated that the meeting is part of a series aimed at strengthening civil society's role and coordinating efforts under a unified national framework.

Civil society representatives praised the Commission for opening communication channels and promoting partnerships, affirming their readiness to cooperate in all areas of human rights work.
